Nach dem Studium in Mainz und Frankfurt hat Prof. Dr. Christian Heisel sich zunächst im Ausland für 2 Jahre weitergebildet (Oxford, Exeter/Großbritannien und Los Angeles/USA). Seine chirurgische Ausbildung erhielt er an der Orthopädischen Universitätsklinik in Heidelberg, wo er für 10 Jahre u.a. als Oberarzt der Sektion Endoprothetik beschäftigt war. 2006 Abschluss Facharzt für Orthopädie und Unfallchirurgie. 2008 bis 2012 Leitender Arzt an der Arcus-Sportklinik Pforzheim. Er führte dort mehr als 500 Hüft- und Knieendoprothesenoperationen pro Jahr durch. Seit 2012 Sektionsleiter Gelenkchirurgie und Orthopädie am Diakonissen-Stiftungs-Krankenhaus Speyer. Ab März 2018 Chefarzt der Abteilung für Orthopädie und Gelenkchirurgie am Diakonissen-Stiftungskrankenhaus Speyer.
Der wissenschaftliche Fokus von Prof. Heisel liegt auf der Endoprothesen-Forschung und mittlerweile sind in seinem Namen mehr als 50 Artikel in Fachzeitschriften erschienen, bis heute hat er mehr als 100 Vorträge gehalten. Er leitet Kurse zum Training junger Chirurgen im In- und Ausland und ist Referenz- und Visitationszentrum für verschiedene Implantathersteller.
